Everyone always talks about how much a tragedy it is for athletes to ignore, downplay, or full out disregard education; but I assure you that there are many more tragedies than that. Sure there are athletes out there that probably couldn't pass a 9th grade math test, but there are also mathematicians and professors out there that can't do a single sit-up. There are educated, beautiful women out there whose souls are so decrepit that they wouldn't give the time of a day to a blind man unless he was their type. There are nice people out there with pure souls who are so southernly dumb that they are unable to teach the world how to truly be hospitable. God gave us all a mind, a body, and a soul; and so many people often forget that they have more than one of those much less all three. Maybe we should stop criticizing the Kevin Garnett's of the world who forego college for the NBA or maybe we should start criticizing and berating them just as much as we criticize the intellectuals of our world that disregard their bodies or their souls. We have to realize the only reason we respect the learned is because that's what makes money in our society and money goes hand to hand with success in the eyes of many. Several of the primary intelligences identified by this psychologist named Gardner include linguistic intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence, spatial intelligence, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, musical intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence, naturalistic intelligence, and spiritual intelligence. In America the forms that count are mathematical, linguisic, and spatial intelligence based on SAT and ACT formats and what is focused on and required to get a degree in school and eventually to get success' money. So the next time you think of Einstein, perhaps you should compare him to Michael Jordan or to Mozart or to Mother Theresa. And maybe next time you think of these individuals, you should think of the things they all lacked as well as the things for which they're famous.
